So I recently downloaded the Odyssey Lit Trip from the Google Lit Trip website and took a closer look, and noticed that the content on each leg along Odyssey’s path need some revision and improvement. So I added pictures, paintings and art, and more detailed description along each stop. It’s very easy to update a description of a place in Google Earth (Right click the item, choose Properties, and edit the details (using rudimentary HTML, <img src> and <br> tags). I made these changes in the spirit of Humanitas, which attempts to focus on Art in relation to core subjects.

I’ve linked to my revised version of the Odyssey Lit Trip here. I also noticed that many images didn’t load due to district blocking of sites like Flickr. Ultimately, it would be best to host the pictures myself on my website and guarantee the images load for all eternity. I’m looking forward to having students create their own journeys using Google Earth in the future for other pieces of literature (Alchemist) and for travel projects in Life Skills classes.
