Google Really Is Tracking You

Google released the Google Dashboard this week.  If you use GMail or a Google Account regularly, it’s best you stop in and check out your dashboard.  It shows you all the Google services you use, and what you’ve created.  I wasn’t too surprised by the majority of the content available in my Dashboard, except for the Web History.  I had no idea that Google was recording every search I performed over the year through Google itself.  It had a day-by-day breakdown of every search I made, and it was a bit unnerving.  (Not that there was anything explicit or questionable about my searches)  It was just the day by day tracking that makes me uncomfortable.  You can turn off the web history, but I never knew, and I doubt most people ever knew that your Google searches were cataloged with your account.  I’m glad Google provides the Dashboard, and it makes you start to question how other sites can track you.
