Software That Misses the Mark

Memiary Reminds You What You’re Doing With Your Life

Memiary is an online diary for you to post about what you did today.  It allows you to post up to five items a day, and over time you could have your life chronicled in its gory detail, or its complete dullness.  Recording your daily activities is best done with pen and paper in the confines of your own house.  Of what benefit is an online diary with limited functionality?  Why not post your thoughts in a Word document on your home computer?  Having a diary online hosted by a third party is one of the most ridiculous applications of technology.  This is a case of technology missing the point.  In addition, it’s amazing so many people have blogged or Twittered about a piece of software any novice programmer could develop.  The Internet offers a collaborative, social community for sharing and communicating information.  Memiary fails to take advantage of any of these benefits.

It’s time like this that I can understand why many people resist technology.  People try to make stories out of nothing.
