False Advertising
We all know that advertisers lie, that most of the commercials on television and the radio tell only part of the truth. But Apple’s recent switcher ads are tweaking the truth more than ever. The most recent series of ads talks about how Microsoft is spending all their money on advertising and not on fixing Vista’s issues. This is a tremendous lie that it is starting to bug me.
Vista doesn’t have any serious problems anymore. I’m a power user, and I use Windows Vista on my home and work machine and I have no issues with Vista. I play graphic intensive games, work with video, develop software, and perform the day to day tasks of a technology coordinator. If I had a choice between XP and Vista, I would choose Vista easily. I cannot identify one issue needing fixing with Vista. The issues mostly involve hardware compatibility, which relates to the software that comes with camcorders, external hard drives, digital cameras, etc. It’s not easy to be compatible with every hardware device on the market. It’s funny how Apple uses an advertisement to spin it that Microsoft is spending money on advertising instead of improving their operating system.
For the love of God, there are more things you cannot do on a Mac than using Vista. I wish someone would make this clear. If you are starting from scratch using computers, it doesn’t matter what you begin with. But switching from Mac to PC or PC to Mac as an experienced user, is a difficulty switch. I am exceedingly more productive using a Windows-based computer than a Mac due to familiarity with the details.
